Reading to young children for as little as twenty minutes a day helps to develop language skills, improve listening and comprehension, and prepares children to read by themselves. Older children improve their vocabulary, strengthen their writing and verbal skills, and develop their knowledge of the world. Reading aloud to your children is the most effective way to create a lifelong love of reading and learning.

The Young People’s Area is located on the second floor of the library. Our youngest patrons can find board books, picture books, and easy readers in the De Angeli Room. Fiction, non-fiction, audiobooks, magazines, and reference materials are located in the central section of the Young People’s Area for middle and older readers. Graphic novels and young adult fiction is located on the Frazer Avenue wall between the adult periodicals and the children’s section.
